Introduction
[edit]Hello professor Reagle! I'm a 4th year communications and fine arts student here at Northeastern--I'm graduating in the spring (lets go final stretch!). I've been an avid enjoyer of online spaces, and growing up on the internet, I am no stranger to many an online community. Being involved in many fandoms, ranging from Star Wars to Danganronpa to Voltron and its revival (and many more I'm embarassed to admit LOL), it'll be interesting to take a look at the inner workings of how these fandoms grow and sustain themselves online. I for one can say that the things I've learned being a part of these communities and the friends I've gained are enduring!
I also noticed that you're vegan! I tried out veganism for a very short period of time and would be interested in trying it again... got any interesting recipes or suggestions? Rachelevey (talk) 03:19, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello! I’m excited to be taking your Online Communities course to complete my minor in digital communication, just in time before I graduate. As the representative graphic design major of the class, I’m excited to learn more about how communities are designed and maintained in digital spaces.
I noticed from your user page that you love history; I’m a fanatic of art history in particular. I’m curious if you’ve ever ventured down the art history rabbit hole before. Looking forward to this class! -Meg/Dunesdays (talk) 22:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Dunesdays! A long time ago I did take an art history course. - Reagle (talk) 16:07, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor Reagle! I am a 4th year that is graduating this Spring! It is hard to believe this will be my last time in classes. I am excited to learn more about communities in the digital world as technology has never been more prominent than now. Online communities are ways we stay connected with other and stay informed about the world around us. I am a Music Industry and Communication Studies major with a minor in Marketing. I am excited to learn more about digital platforms and how this can shape my future.
Looking forward to meeting your dog soon :) - Taylorsydney (talk) 04:59, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi Professor Reagle, I am a fifth year and will also be graduating this spring! I am a communication major and also minored in Spanish and Psychology. It is crazy to think I am taking my last few classes before I graduate! This class seems very interesting and especially relevant to a generation who spends so much time online and building/maintaining communities on different platforms. It is kind of funny to me that we are learning to be wikipedia editors when my whole education journey I was told that wikipedia was an unreliable source that we could not use. I like that we are learning more about the community on here and about the process of actually building an article. Looking forward to the rest of the semester! Hi Professor Reagle! I am looking forward to taking your class for the rest of this semester-- it is such a cool concept to create a piece of public information on Wikipedia for my capstone. I also love history (and probably would have majored in it if my parents had let me). Olivia (talk) 19:32, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor! Writing from the library on this snowy morning. I love it when the snow falls from the trees when it's sunny out, it reminds me of glitter :). I am a fourth-year Communication Studies student graduating in May, and I have really enjoyed taking this class so far. Registering for Capstone classes was a battle; I watched the waitlist like a hawk! I am excited to dive deeper into our materials and assignments this semester.Bubblegum111 (talk) 17:37, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi Professor! I'm a fourth year majoring in Communications and Media with a minor in Marketing and I'm super excited to dive into this course. I think it's so cool that my capstone will be a Wikipedia page and can't wait to show it off! I'm *hopefully* graduating in May and currently in the middle of applying to every single post grad position on the face of the Earth that looks interesting to me. Anyways, I'm looking forward to learn more with you and hopefully meet your dog soon! -Erinroddy (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 19:21, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello Professor! My name is Gabby Rinaldi and I am a fourth year Music Industry and Communications Studies student. This is my last semester so I am almost done! The reason I am taking this class is because I needed to fill a Comm requirement and this one was the most interesting to me, but I already took a capstone course last semester and didn't realize this was a capstone course as well. This is fine with me though, happy to be here! I was drawn to this class because I participated heavily in online communities in middle school - namely the Fall Out Boy/Panic! At The Disco/My Chemical Romance/Twenty One Pilots fandom. Growing up in an online community and making random connections/friendships with like-minded people online has really shaped who I am as a person today and I wanted to learn more about that in this class! Excited to learn more.

Hi Professor Reagle! I'm Rashida Jalloh and I am a fourth year Communications and Media Studies major, Marketing minor. I am taking this class because I do need a capstone, but this is the most interesting topic to me out of all COMM capstones. I think it is interesting to think about online communities as an identity and a topic that deserved discourse. Can't wait to meet your dog:) Rjalloh (talk) 01:09, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Rashida Jalloh
Hi Professor Reagle! I am Annie Hatsav and I am a fourth year English and Communications major. I'm graduating in May and needed a capstone course, but I am super excited to be in this class to learn more about Wikipedia and specific online communities. I have never been great at technology, and I am far from a computer science person. But I am genuinely looking forward to learning more about people online today.
I also am super excited to meet your dog! I have always lived with cats but I did have one dog growing up and she was the best. So I would say I love cats and dogs equally! Anniehats 05:56, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor Reagle! I’m Clara Barsoum and I am a fourth year Political Science, Communication Studies, and Philosophy major. This class is one of the few I’m ending off my undergraduate years in and I’m excited to dive into the world of Online Communities! Although I went into this class with not many expectations and more of an open mind I’m pleasantly surprised about the intersection of communication and philosophy, social psychology, and economics we’re exploring. It’s also the first time being one this end of Wikipedia and finding out the physical and more social rules of the community. Creating a whole new topic on this site is a bit daunting to me right now but also contributing to a wealth of knowledge that anyone’s able to access seems super rewarding so I’m also looking forward to it.
