Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Contentious topic restriction. Related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Israel claims 85% of Qunietra. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talk · contribs) 07:33, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This doesn't receive a huge amount of traffic or vandalism but it is highly relevant to the WP:ARBPIA CTOP and should probably be protected. Thanks in advance!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 10:13, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Releasing tomorrow, the film's lead actor has a strong fan base who are vandalising this article. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:14, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

(+1) — Yeah, this article should be protected immediately. Please protect it, someone. The Seal F1 (talk) 12:31, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 16:58, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Like in many biographies of famous footballers, masses of IPs inserting "he is the greatest" or similar- FMSky (talk) 17:00, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Sush150 (talk) 17:20, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent edit-warring, improperly ref changes and substandard formatting e.g. addition links to example.com. Dl2000 (talk) 20:16, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Vandalism. M.C. (talk) 20:42, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. FMSky (talk) 21:26, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: For a few weeks, general IP harassment. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:28, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me if I'm missing something but I'm not seeing the harassment...? There was one nonconstructive edit this morning [1] and a mildly provocative warning from an IP a few hours ago [2] but I'm not seeing anything that warrants protection, especially when you have had multiple good-faith interactions with IPs on your talk page recently. Giraffer (talk) 22:55, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Request temporary protection due to multiple disruptive edits/rollback by IP user 95.24.57.XX, user was warned to use the talk pages to gain support for his edits but didn't reply or stop the reinstating the edits Alawadhi3000 (talk) 21:29, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Aintabli (talk) 21:48, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs adding false information. GSK (talkedits) 21:54, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 12:03, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – IPs and accounts adding false information. I suspect some WP:LTA is going on, but currently have no concrete proof. GSK (talkedits) 22:00, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked. All recent socks. Daniel Case (talk) 10:27, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by IPs. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 22:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Fairly transparent abuse of multiple accounts and IP addresses going on this BLP. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:41, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 12:07, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Article repeatedly vandalized by IP editors. The leading sentence probably needs a bit of toning down, but before that happens, something should be done. APenguinThatIsSilly("talk") 23:39, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Much of the article is ARBPIA related and thus liable to bias and disruption. PlotinusEnjoyer (talk) 01:47, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: There has been repeated removal of stable, well-sourced content by an IP editor and a cluster of newly registered accounts, all with a single-purpose focus. The accounts seem to make minor edits to obscure their intent, while the IP handles the actual deletion of content. This appears coordinated. Warnings have been issued, and discussion has been attempted on the talk page without engagement. J Pratas (talk) 02:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – ARBPIA. PlotinusEnjoyer (talk) 03:41, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: (Indefinite Semi-protection) There are practically no good edits from the IP. A controversial topic. The Seal F1 (talk) 08:30, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected indefinitely. And logged at CTOPS under GENSEX. Daniel Case (talk) 10:26, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks! The Seal F1 (talk) 12:19, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Semi-protection has expired almost three days ago. Time to renew the semi-protection to prevent vandalism from IPs. Jon2guevarra (talk) 09:58, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Cross-wiki target of HoY/Piermark. Phạm Ngọc Phương Linh (T • C • CA • L • B) 11:08, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 11:13, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Hundreds of recent IP and likely sock edits to a former FA. Have reverted to last good version. Seasider53 (talk) 11:50, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Relevant to WP:ARBPIA sanctions. The attack he was involved in (Pisgat Ze'ev stabbings) is ECP, his page should be as well. Smallangryplanet (talk) 12:05, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
